Incident Overview
A pilot provided a report describing a landing incident that occurred after a recent rainfall. The airplane touched down on the centerline within the first third of a wet runway. During the landing roll, the pilot allowed the airplane to continue to the end of the runway to avoid excessive brake application.
Sequence of Events
As the pilot initiated a left turn toward the taxiway, the brakes were noted to be less effective than expected. The airplane began to pivot to the right. The pilot felt the right main landing gear and nose wheel slide, causing the airplane to depart the runway surface. Subsequently, the nose wheel impacted the ground and folded, and the airplane came to rest with the nose pitched down.
Damage Assessment
The fuselage sustained substantial damage as a result of the incident.
Pilot's Observations
The pilot reported that no preexisting mechanical failures or malfunctions were present that would have prevented normal operation of the airplane.
