What happened
On March 19, 2018, at approximately 0800 UTC, a Robinson R22 Beta helicopter, registration ZS-HAI, experienced a failure of a fan blade. The incident occurred while the aircraft was flying approximately 5 feet above ground level near Bloemfontein, South Africa. Following the failure, the pilot successfully landed the helicopter without further incident. There were no injuries reported, though the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
