NTSB Appoints Representative for 2018 Embraer ERJ-170 Incident in Mexico

Incident Notification and NTSB Involvement On April 11, 2018, an incident occurred involving an Embraer S.A. ERJ-170-200LR aircraft. The government of Mexico formally notified the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) regarding the event. In response to this notification, the NTSB appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to support the ongoing investigation led by the Mexican authorities. This appointment was made in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, which governs international cooperation in aviation accident and incident investigations. The NTSB's role is limited to providing assistance, as the investigation remains under the jurisdiction of the Mexican government. All investigative information and findings related to the incident are expected to be released exclusively by the government of Mexico.
