Accident Details
The solo student pilot reported that during landing, the tailwheel-equipped airplane touched down "a little" crooked. The airplane subsequently veered to the right, and the pilot attempted to correct with rudder input. Despite the correction, the airplane ran off the right side of the runway into a field that the pilot described as "wasn't terribly rough."
Attempted Takeoff and Nose-Over
After entering the field, the student pilot attempted to take off from the field but "realized it wasn't going to happen before the approaching trees." He then aborted the takeoff, applied the brakes, and the airplane nosed over.
Aircraft Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left-wing lift strut. The student pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
Pilot Report
The student pilot did not specify any additional factors or circumstances surrounding the event. The investigation is based solely on the pilot's report.
