Accident Details
The pilot reported that, after landing in crosswind conditions, the airplane veered to the right, departed the runway surface, and nosed over. The airplane came to rest inverted on sandy grass adjacent to the runway. The accident resulted in substantial damage to the left wing and the empennage.
Pilot's Report
During a telephone conversation, the pilot stated that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
Weather Information
The automated weather observation system at the accident airport reported that, about six minutes prior to the accident, the wind was from 080 degrees at 6 knots. The pilot landed on runway 1 and reported that the wind speed was 21 knots.
