What happened
On July 17, 2018, at 1300 UTC, a Cessna 182, registration G-BHYA, was performing a local flight departing from a private airfield in Les Rabassières, France. During the flight, the aircraft suffered an engine failure.
The pilot declared an emergency and attempted to land the aircraft. During the landing process, the airplane experienced a runway excursion. The aircraft sustained substantial damage, but the pilot, who was the sole occupant, was not injured.
