Incident Overview
On July 17, 2018, at 1300 UTC, a Cessna 182, registration G-BHYA, serial number R182-00532, experienced an engine failure while on a local flight from a private airfield in Les Rabassières, France. The pilot declared an emergency and attempted a landing. During the landing roll, the airplane veered off the runway in a runway excursion. The aircraft sustained substantial damage. The sole occupant, the pilot, did not suffer any injuries.
Investigation
The Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis (BEA) of France has jurisdiction over the investigation. Under Annex 13 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, the United States, as the State of Design, has designated an accredited representative to participate.
