Incident Overview
On July 22, 2018, at approximately 1500 coordinated universal time, a mid-air collision occurred between two Lavia Argentina S.A. PA-25 agricultural aircraft near Namiquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico. The airplanes involved were a PA-25-260, registration XB-EGL, and a PA-25-235, registration XB-DVX. Both aircraft were engaged in aerial application maneuvers at the time of the accident.
Occupant Injuries
The pilot of XB-EGL sustained fatal injuries. The pilot of XB-DVX sustained serious injuries.
Investigation
The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the government of Mexico, specifically the Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil (DGAC) through its Direccion de Investigacion de Accidentes e Incidentes de Aviacion.
