NTSB Appoints Representative for 2018 Airbus A330 Incident in Mexico

Incident Notification and International Cooperation On July 23, 2018, an incident involving an Airbus A330 aircraft occurred in Mexico. The government of Mexico formally notified the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the event. In response to this notification, the NTSB appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to support the ongoing investigation led by the Mexican government. This appointment was made in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, which governs international cooperation in aviation accident and incident investigations. The NTSB's role is limited to providing assistance, as the investigation remains under the jurisdiction of the government of Mexico. All investigative information and findings related to the incident are expected to be released exclusively by the Mexican authorities.
