Event
On August 2, 2018, at approximately 1930 UTC, a Piper PA-28-181 airplane, bearing French registration F-GKEC, sustained a loss of engine power while on approach to Lyon-Bron Airport (LFLY), near Décines, France. The aircraft executed a forced landing, during which it sustained substantial damage. The two occupants on board reported no injuries.
Investigation
The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the French government. The Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses (BEA) pour la sécurité de l'aviation civile is conducting the investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist, as the United States is the State of Manufacturer of the airframe and engine, under ICAO Annex 13 provisions.
