Incident Overview
A pilot flying a tailwheel-equipped airplane experienced a loss of directional control during the landing roll. According to the pilot's account, while the airplane was traveling at approximately 40 knots groundspeed, it began to drift to the left. The pilot corrected the drift, returning the airplane to the center of the runway. However, the airplane subsequently drifted to the right, and the pilot was unable to correct the deviation.
Ground Loop and Damage
The airplane ground looped to the right, and the left wing struck the ground before the airplane came to a complete stop. The accident resulted in substantial damage to the forward lower fuselage bulkhead and the left wing.

The pilot stated that there were no mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
