Incident Summary
A student pilot was conducting a solo flight in the traffic pattern, performing touch-and-go landings. The accident occurred during the fifth landing attempt, when the airplane deviated from the runway centerline and drifted over the left edge of the runway.
Sequence of Events
The student pilot reported that while on final approach for the fifth landing, the airplane drifted left of the runway centerline. In response, he attempted to abort the landing by increasing engine power. However, he did not apply sufficient right rudder to counteract the left-turning tendency. As a result, the airplane banked steeply to the left and subsequently collided with a fence adjacent to the runway.
Damage and Mechanical Status
Following the collision, the airplane sustained substantial damage to both wings. The student pilot further reported that there were no mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation. No other injuries or damage were reported.
