Accident
A collision occurred between two airplanes on taxiway Delta at a general aviation airport. One airplane was taxiing from the fuel station to its hangar, heading north, and turned left onto taxiway Delta. During this turn, it struck another airplane that was already taxiing on Delta after landing and heading to the fuel station.
Pilot Statements
The pilot of the first airplane reported that he had not seen the other airplane before the collision. The pilot of the second airplane stated that while taxiing on Delta, the other airplane entered the taxiway and collided with the left side of his aircraft.
Video Evidence
A security camera mounted on the airport office building recorded the incident. The footage showed that the airplane entering taxiway Delta did not yield to the airplane that was already taxiing on that taxiway.
Damage
The airplane that was taxiing on Delta sustained substantial damage to its left wing and rudder. Both pilots reported that there were no mechanical malfunctions or failures with either airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
