NTSB Appoints Representative for 2018 Boeing 737 Incident in India

Overview of the Investigation Appointment The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) of India notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of an incident involving a Boeing 737 aircraft that occurred on September 20, 2018. In response to this notification, the NTSB appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to support the AAIB of India’s investigation. ## Role of the U.S. Accredited Representative The appointment was made under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, which governs the investigation of aircraft accidents and incidents. The NTSB acted in its capacity as the State of Manufacturer of the aircraft. The U.S. Accredited Representative was tasked with assisting the AAIB of India in its investigative efforts. ## Information Release All investigative information related to the incident is to be released by the AAIB of India. The NTSB did not assume primary responsibility for the investigation, as the incident occurred in India, and the AAIB of India retained the lead role in the process.
