Accident Details
On September 25, 2018, at approximately 1800 hours Coordinated Universal Time, a Robinson R44 II helicopter, bearing Canadian registration C-GMCT, struck the ground during a diversion from its intended route. The accident occurred near Toronto/Buttonville Municipal Airport (CYKZ) in Buttonville, Ontario, Canada.
Flight History
The helicopter had departed from North Bay Airport (CYYB) in North Bay, Ontario, with Buttonville as its planned destination. En route, deteriorating weather conditions prompted the pilot to divert. During this diversion, the aircraft impacted terrain.
Injuries and Damage
The sole occupant, the pilot, sustained fatal injuries. The helicopter was destroyed upon impact.
