Event Description
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Inspector assigned to the event, the pilot reported that during landing, the airplane landed hard on the nose landing gear. This caused the airplane to bounce and briefly become airborne. After touching down again, the nose landing gear collapsed.
Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the engine mounts as a result of the landing sequence.
Mechanical Condition
The inspector added that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
Report Submission
The pilot did not submit the National Transportation Safety Board Pilot/Operator Aircraft Accident/Incident Report Form 6120.1.
