Event Summary
During the preflight inspection, the pilot observed no anomalies with the nose wheel tire. The flight proceeded to the destination airport without reported incident.
Landing Sequence
Upon touchdown, the pilot sensed something was wrong and applied aft control input. The airplane left the ground for a few seconds and then contacted the runway again with greater force. After this second touchdown, the pilot taxied the airplane to the ramp without further incident.
Damage
Post-landing inspection revealed substantial damage to the fuselage.
Weather Conditions
The automated weather observation station located at the airport reported that, approximately 12 minutes after the landing, the wind was from 220° at 5 knots. The pilot had landed the airplane on runway 36R.
