Incident Overview
On 15 October 2018, a pilot arrived at Pruszcz Gdański Airport (EPPR) to conduct planned training flights aimed at improving piloting technique and building flight hours. After reviewing actual weather and forecast conditions, as well as navigation and traffic information, the pilot prepared the aircraft for flight. The pilot performed an engine run-up, then taxied to grass runway 09 and took off for a circuit pattern at 1000 feet AGL.
Sequence of Events
The circuit construction, alignment for landing, flare, and hold-off were performed correctly. However, after touchdown at an increased speed, the aircraft bounced off the runway. The pilot's subsequent control input was inappropriate, leading to a series of kangaroo bounces and ultimately the destruction of the nose gear.
Aftermath
The aircraft came to a stop, and the pilot vacated the cockpit under their own power, without sustaining any injuries during the incident.
Cause
The cause of the incident was the pilot's inadequate control input, specifically pushing the control yoke forward during the flare phase, which resulted in the nose wheel striking the runway surface.
