Accident Summary
A pilot reported that while landing a snow ski-equipped airplane, he noticed a rock protruding from the snow near the intended touchdown point just before touchdown. He attempted to alter the airplane's course to the left. However, the left ski contacted the snow while the airplane was not aligned with the direction of travel, causing the airplane to bounce. Subsequently, the right ski contacted the snow, and the right main landing gear strut failed. The right wing then struck the ground, and the airplane came to rest.
