Event Details
During the approach to landing, the pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane encountered increasing and turbulent wind conditions. The pilot recalled that on the landing roll, he applied a slight amount of forward stick, but when the tailwheel contacted the surface, the wind suddenly changed to a tailwind, causing the airplane to nose over.
Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage, including damage to the rudder, both wing lift struts, and the engine mounts.

The nearest METAR, located at an airport 1 mile from the accident site, reported at the time of the accident that the wind was from 290° at 10 knots. Visibility was 10 statute miles, with broken clouds at 6,500 feet MSL that were deteriorating. The pilot landed on runway 20.
