Accident Details
On April 14, 2019, at 0020 local time, a Pilatus PC-12 airplane, registration VH-OWJ, was involved in an aviation incident near Merredin, Western Australia. The aircraft was on a medical transport flight operated under the pertinent civil regulations for the government of Australia. During the climb, while passing through 2,600 feet mean sea level, the airplane experienced an uncontrolled pitch down. The pilot was able to regain control of the airplane and subsequently returned to Merredin. The pilot and three passengers were not injured, and the airplane was undamaged.
Investigation
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is investigating the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a US accredited representative to assist the ATSB in its investigation. Further details regarding the cause or contributing factors are not yet available.
