The pilot reported that, during landing, shortly after touchdown, the airplane "wheelbarrowed" and veered left. Upon reaching the end of the runway, he pulled back on the yoke, but the airplane exited the runway, impacted a berm, and nosed over.
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the empennage.
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
The automated weather observation station located on the airport reported that, about 10 minutes after the accident, the wind was from 330° at 15 knots, gusting 23 knots. The airplane landed on runway 20. The pilot added that he intended to land on runway 24.
