Accident Details
A student pilot, conducting a solo landing, experienced a directional control issue as the airplane immediately veered to the left upon touchdown. The aircraft departed the runway surface and subsequently collided with a paving vehicle that was positioned on an adjacent taxiway. The left wing of the airplane made contact with the vehicle.
Damage
The collision caused substantial damage to the left wing of the airplane. The extent of the damage required significant repair or replacement of the wing structure.
Operational Information
The operator reported that there were no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures that would have precluded normal operations. The flight was a solo training mission, and the student pilot was the sole occupant. The operator and the student pilot did not submit the National Transportation Safety Board Pilot/Operator Aircraft Accident/Incident Report Form 6120.1.
