Incident Notification
On July 22, 2019, an incident occurred involving an Airbus A330-200 airplane. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Board (AAIB) of Pakistan subsequently notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the United States about the event. The notification was made in accordance with international protocols.
Investigation
In response, the NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the AAIB investigation. This appointment is made under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, which governs international cooperation in aircraft accident and incident investigations. The NTSB is serving as the State of design and manufacture of the airplane engines, as the engines were produced by a U.S. manufacturer.
All investigative information and findings will be released by the AAIB of Pakistan. Further details regarding the nature of the incident, the location, and the operator have not been disclosed in the initial notification. The investigation is ongoing.
