Incident Overview
A pilot reported that during a landing in a gusting crosswind, the tailwheel and tundra tire-equipped airplane veered to the right. The pilot applied left rudder, which caused the airplane to veer to the left and exit the runway.
Runway Excursion
During the excursion onto the gravel adjacent to the runway, the right main landing gear collapsed. Subsequently, the right wing impacted the ground, resulting in substantial damage.
Pilot Report
The pilot stated that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

The wind was reported as from 180° at 5 knots, gusting to 7 knots. The pilot landed the airplane on runway 07.
