Incident Overview
On November 6, 2019, at approximately 1740 coordinated universal time, a Cessna 172L, registration ZS-DAC, experienced a loss of engine power while enroute to the VOR beacon GAV, near Vereeniging, South Africa. The pilot executed a forced landing in a field. The pilot and the passenger were not injured.
Investigation
The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is investigating the incident. As the state of manufacture of the airplane and engine, the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a US accredited representative to assist the SACAA in the investigation.
