Incident Overview
A pilot reported that during a traffic pattern, while turning from base leg to final approach, a large bird struck the leading edge of the right wing. The impact caused substantial damage to the wing structure, making the airplane difficult to control. Despite the damage, the pilot was able to land safely on the intended runway.
