Incident Overview
A business jet operating an on-demand, instrument flight rules flight at night overran the runway after landing. The crew had conducted an instrument approach to a runway approximately 7,300 feet long. Weather conditions at the time included fog and mist.
Landing and Overrun
After touching down about 1,500 feet from the runway threshold, the flight crew applied brakes and thrust reversers gradually because the runway was described as "slippery." As the airplane neared the end of the runway, the crew applied full braking. However, the airplane departed the end of the runway and came to rest on the side of an embankment.
Damage and Mechanical Status
During the overrun, the fuselage sustained substantial damage. The flight crew reported no mechanical malfunctions or failures that would have precluded normal operation.
