What happened
On July 16, 2020, a Hawker Siddeley HS125 operated by Aero Contractors was in the cruise phase of flight when the crew received an audible fire warning for the number 1 (left) engine. The aircraft, registration 5N-BOO, is powered by two Honeywell TFE731 5R-1H turbofan engines.
In response to the warning, the flight crew declared an emergency. The aircraft subsequently completed an uneventful landing at Port Harcourt, Nigeria. There were no injuries resulting from the event.
