Incident Details
On July 16, 2020, a Hawker-Siddeley (Textron Aviation) aircraft, powered by two Honeywell TFE731 5R-1H turbofan engines, was in cruise flight when an audible fire warning activated for the No. 1 (left) engine. The flight crew declared an emergency and made an uneventful landing at Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The aircraft is a twin-engine design.
Investigation
The Nigeria Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has initiated an investigation into the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is participating as the State of Manufacturer of both the aircraft and its engines. The investigation is ongoing, and no probable cause has been determined at this time. The AIB will issue a final report upon conclusion of the investigation.
