Accident Overview
On September 7, 2020, at approximately 1247 central daylight time, a Beech G35 airplane, registration N4636D, was substantially damaged following an accident near Canyon Lake, Texas. The pilot and one passenger suffered serious injuries, while a second passenger received minor injuries. The aircraft was operating under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight.
Pilot Report
The pilot reported that while en route to Canyon Lake Airport (34TS), the engine experienced a total loss of power shortly after he switched the fuel selector to the left main fuel tank in preparation for landing. In response, the pilot attempted a forced landing to a clearing. However, the airplane struck trees at the edge of the clearing and subsequently impacted the ground. The accident resulted in substantial damage to the fuselage and both wings.
Postaccident Examination
Following the accident, an examination of the airplane's engine and fuel system was conducted. The examination did not reveal a reason for the reported loss of engine power.
