Incident Overview
On 31 July 2020, at the Piotrków Trybunalski airport (EPPT), a Tecnam P2008-JC (registration SP-LFC) collided with a correctly parked Cessna 152 in front of the fuel station. The pilot of the Tecnam had started the engine in the hangar of the Aeroclub and began taxiing for a training flight. During taxiing, the pilot did not maintain adequate attention and struck the Cessna 152 with the left wing. The collision resulted in damage to the left wing of the Tecnam and the rudder of the Cessna. No injuries were sustained.
Cause
The investigation determined the cause of the incident to be inadequate observation of the surroundings during taxiing.
Contributing Circumstances
A contributing factor was the pilot's distraction due to pre-flight activities performed while taxiing.
Preventive Actions
Following the incident, the airport management issued a NOTAM prohibiting taxiing in the fuel station area and reported this restriction for publication in the AIP Poland. The incident was discussed in detail with the pilots of the center, emphasizing the need for special caution and due attention during taxiing. Pilots were informed about the prohibition of taxiing in the vicinity of the fuel station.
