Accident Details
On February 22, 2021, at approximately 1100 central standard time, a Piper PA46R-350T, registration N560CA, was involved in an accident while landing at Charles B Wheeler Downtown Airport in Kansas City, Missouri. The airplane was substantially damaged. The pilot and four passengers were not injured. The flight was conducted under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight.
Sequence of Events
The pilot reported making a normal approach and landing on runway 19. During the landing roll, the nose wheel unexpectedly pulled uncontrollably to the right. The pilot lost control of the airplane, which then departed the right side of the runway. Subsequently, the right main landing gear collapsed, and the right wing sustained substantial damage.
Examination
An examination of the airplane did not reveal a reason for the loss of nose wheel directional control.
