Accident Overview and Flight History On December 4, 2022, at approximately 2056 CST, a Cessna 210-5 airplane, registration N8149Z, was destroyed in an accident near Cleburne, Texas. Both pilots on board were fatally injured. The aircraft was operating as a personal flight under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91. The flight originated at Fairmont Municipal Airport in West Virginia, with a planned final destination of Granbury Regional Airport (GDJ) in Texas. ADS-B data and fueling records indicated the aircraft made intermediate stops at Upshur County Municipal Airport in West Virginia and Covington Municipal Airport in Tennessee before arriving at Cleburne Regional Airport (CPT) at approximately 2022. While at CPT, the pilots informed the aircraft owner that they had stopped for additional fuel to ensure sufficient reserves for a potential missed approach at GDJ. An IFR flight plan was filed for the segment from CPT to GDJ, and the pilots received an IFR clearance from air traffic control, which included an assigned heading of 090 and an instruction to climb to 3,000 feet MSL.
