What happened
On March 4, 2023, at approximately 14:37 CST, a Piper PA46-600TP, registration N131HL, was involved in an accident near Thedford, Nebraska. The flight was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 as a personal flight.
As the aircraft was landing, the pilot reported that the airplane began to veer to the right immediately after the nose wheel made contact with the runway. The pilot attempted to maintain the centerline using left rudder and braking; however, as the airspeed decreased, directional control was lost, and the aircraft departed the right side of the runway. During the excursion, the aircraft struck a runway light, spun to the left, and experienced a landing gear collapse. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the left wing.
There were no injuries to the pilot or the passenger.
