Flight History
On 15 September 2023, a Tecnam P2006T aircraft, registered YR-SST, was scheduled for a Multi-Engine Piston (MEP) qualification examination flight for a student pilot. The flight was to depart from Băneasa Airport. According to the instructor pilot, pre-flight activities were rushed because the runway at Băneasa was scheduled to close at 09:30 local time for repairs. The aircraft departed at 09:27 local time for Mihail Kogălniceanu Airport in Constanța County.
Events at Destination
Upon arrival in the destination airport area, the flight conducted touch-and-go exercises specific to the examination. During the final circuit, the landing was performed with flaps retracted to simulate a malfunction in the flap actuation system. At the moment of touchdown, the crew realized that the landing gear had not extended, despite having operated the landing gear command.
Accident Sequence
The aircraft contacted the runway on the belly of the fuselage approximately 500 meters from the runway threshold and slid about 200 meters before coming to a complete stop. Coordinates of the stopping point: Latitude 44°22'16.13"N, Longitude 028°29'23.13"E.
Aftermath
After landing, the crew did not require medical attention. The aircraft sustained minor damage.
Investigation Status
The investigation, conducted by the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority for Investigation and Analysis (AIAS), is ongoing. No immediate safety recommendations have been issued.
