Incident Overview and Flight Details On February 10, 2024, at approximately 15:43 EST, United Airlines Flight 1890 (UAL1890) encountered moderate to severe turbulence while descending to Flight Level 190 (FL190) inbound to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). The aircraft was a Boeing 777-222ER, registration N788UA, operating a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to EWR under 14 CFR Part 121. The flight carried 280 passengers and crewmembers. Three flight attendants sustained serious injuries as a result of the encounter.
