What happened
On October 26, 2024, at approximately 14:40 CDT, a Cessna 182Q, registration N8883X, was involved in a ground accident near Rose Hill, Kansas. The aircraft was being operated as a Part 91 skydiving flight.
The pilot had completed six skydive jumps earlier that morning. While the aircraft was parked with the engine running in preparation for a seventh flight, a passenger acting as a photographer was seated in the rear of the plane. As the passenger exited the aircraft and moved into position to photograph approaching skydivers, she backed into the rotating propeller. The accident resulted in 1 fatality; the pilot was not injured.
