What happened
On June 24, 2025, at approximately 12:30 central daylight time, a Cessna 310N, registration N5045Q, was involved in an accident near Fayetteville, Tennessee. The aircraft was operating as a Part 91 positioning flight.
During the engine run-up, the pilot observed the right engine RPM drop by approximately 250 RPM during the magneto check, though it returned to 1,800 RPM when the magneto switch was set to both positions. Following rotation, the pilot noted the aircraft felt sluggish. An attempt to adjust the mixture resulted in a loss of power to both engines after the mixture was enriched.
The pilot lowered the nose and attempted to land on the remaining runway. The aircraft touched down hard to the left of the runway, causing the landing gear to separate. The accident resulted in no injuries to the pilot, but the right wing and fuselage of the aircraft sustained substantial damage. At the time of the accident, the aircraft was carrying approximately 70 gallons of 100LL aviation fuel.
