What happened

On July 9, 2025, at approximately 18:20 central daylight time, a Cessna 172H bearing registration N3254C was conducting a personal flight under 14 CFR Part 91. The flight originated from Atmore Municipal Airport (0R1) in Atmore, Alabama, at roughly 18:00.

While cruising at 1,500 feet MSL, the engine stopped producing power. After being unable to restart the engine, the pilot performed a forced landing into a peanut field near Century, Florida. Upon touchdown, the aircraft nosed over, causing substantial damage to the rudder and vertical stabilizer.

There were no injuries to the pilot or the passenger.
