What happened
On August 27, 2025, at approximately 20:57 CDT, a Cessna 210D, registration N3806Y, crashed near Kearney, Nebraska. The flight originated from Bakko Aviation Airport (MN71) in Glenwood, Minnesota, with an intended destination of Onion Crest Airpark (43NE) in Riverdale, Nebraska. Due to low ceilings and the absence of an instrument approach at the destination, the crew diverted to Kearney Regional Airport (EAR).
The Minneapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center cleared the aircraft for an RNAV (GPS) Runway 18 approach into EAR and transitioned the pilot to the common traffic advisory frequency. Following this instruction, the aircraft was lost from radar coverage and subsequently reported overdue. On the morning of August 28, 2025, the wreckage was located in a cornfield approximately 5 nautical miles north of Kearney Regional Airport.
The aircraft impacted an upsloping mature cornfield on a heading of approximately 225°. The debris field, stretching 154 feet in length and 23 feet at its widest point, contained various components including the right wing tip, nose gear, wing struts, and both doors. The main wreckage came to rest on a heading of approximately 330°. The accident resulted in 2 fatal injuries.
