On 9 May 2025, an Ikarus C42B aircraft, registered as YR-5201, was scheduled for a training flight in the vicinity of Caransebeș Airport (LRCS). The aircraft departed at 10:38 local time with a pilot instructor and a pilot trainee on board. Shortly after takeoff, at an altitude of approximately 50 meters, the crew observed that the engine temperatures exceeded normal operating limits and detected a smell characteristic of hot metal.

Emergency Landing and Sequence of Events

The pilot instructor assumed control of the aircraft to execute an emergency landing. During the maneuver, a 90° left turn was performed to align with taxiway A. While turning, the left wingtip made contact with the grassy surface. Subsequently, the aircraft made a hard contact with the taxiway, followed by two uncontrolled bounces.
