What happened
On September 6, 2025, at approximately 13:09 local time, an ICP Savannah S, registration YR-5540, was involved in an occurrence at the Șirna-Tăriceni aerodrome in Prahova County, Romania. The aircraft was conducting a private recreational flight with a pilot and one passenger on board.
After completing the landing and taxiing to a parking area, the passenger attempted to exit the aircraft from the right side. During this process, the passenger was struck in the head by the propeller, which was still rotating due to engine inertia. The impact resulted in serious injuries to the passenger, who required medical attention and subsequent hospitalization for more than 48 hours.
The investigation
The Romanian civil aviation investigation board (AIAS) was notified of the event immediately following the occurrence. An investigation team was dispatched to the site to conduct an initial field examination. The investigators documented the scene through photography and video recordings and began collecting preliminary information regarding the aircraft's maintenance and flight history. The aircraft, which has a total time of 387 hours, sustained damage to the propeller blades during the event. The investigation is currently ongoing.
