Savannah S YR-5540 Ground Accident at Șirna-Tăriceni Aerodrome

Event Overview and Aircraft Details On 6 September 2025, at 13:09 local time, the Romanian Authority for Investigation and Analysis of Civil Aviation Safety (AIAS) was notified of a civil aviation event at the Șirna-Tăriceni aerodrome in Prahova County. The aircraft involved was a Savannah S ultralight aircraft, registered YR-5540, manufactured by S.C. ICP S.R.L. in 2018. The aircraft was powered by a ROTAX 912 ULS2 engine and had accumulated 387 flight hours. It was privately owned and registered in Romania. ## Sequence of Events The aircraft was conducting a private recreational flight with a pilot and one passenger on board. After landing and stopping in the parking area, the passenger exited the aircraft on the right side. The passenger was struck in the head by the propeller, which was still rotating and driven by the engine. As a result of the injuries, the passenger received medical care and was transported to a medical facility, requiring hospitalization for more than 48 hours. ## Aircraft Damage and Investigation The aircraft sustained damage to the propeller blades, which were found broken. The aircraft was located at coordinates 44°47'2.22''N / 25°58'54.82''E. The aerodrome administrator notified the event at 13:09 and took measures to preserve the aircraft until the arrival of the AIAS investigation committee. ## Crew and Aerodrome Information The pilot was a 32-year-old male holding a valid pilot license for ultralight aircraft and a valid Class 1/2/LAPL medical certificate, with 60 hours of flight experience. The Șirna-Tăriceni aerodrome is located south of Tăriceni and east of county road 101A. It is classified as an aerodrome other than a certified aerodrome, with a grass runway measuring 600 meters in length and 30 meters in width. ## Investigation Status The AIAS investigation committee conducted an initial investigation at the scene, collected video recordings and photographs, and gathered preliminary information.
