What happened
On February 6, 2026, at approximately 09:25 EDT, a Cessna 560XL, registration N476JC, was involved in an accident near Danville, Kentucky. The aircraft was operating under 14 CFR Part 91 for a personal flight originating from Stuart Powell Field Airport (DVK).
The flight crew intended to fly from Danville to Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport (BWG), with a subsequent plan to continue to Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) after picking up an additional passenger. Prior to departure, the crew completed a preflight walk-around, verified paperwork, and checked the weather. The aircraft was loaded with 5,000 lbs of fuel, bringing the projected takeoff weight to 18,000 lbs.
During the takeoff roll on the 5,000-foot runway, the pilot performed the before-takeoff checklist, which included verifying flight control movement. Upon reaching 103 knots, the pilot attempted to rotate the aircraft; however, the airplane failed to lift off, and all three landing gear remained on the runway. After confirming the airspeed was above 103 knots but noting the continued lack of rotation, the pilot elected to abort the takeoff.
The pilot applied maximum braking and deployed the thrust reversers. Although the aircraft began to decelerate, there was insufficient runway remaining to reach a complete stop. The aircraft struck a snow berm at the end of the runway, causing all three landing gear to collapse. The aircraft traveled approximately 450 feet into a field. The impact forced the main landing gear upward through the wings, causing substantial damage. All two crew members and two passengers were not injured.
