Piper PA-31T1 Gear-Up Landing at Aeródromo Peldehue

Incident Overview and Flight Background On July 9, 2024, at approximately 16:00 local time, a Piper PA-31T1 aircraft was conducting a landing maneuver on Runway 14 at Aeródromo Peldehue (SCPD), located in the Colina commune of the Metropolitan Region. The flight had originated from Aeródromo Eulogio Sánchez (SCTB) at approximately 15:45 local time for the purpose of reviewing takeoff and landing procedures. The crew consisted of a 62-year-old commercial pilot and flight instructor, who was acting as pilot in command, and an 80-year-old private pilot serving as co-pilot. During the final approach, the co-pilot read the landing checklist, which included items for lowering the landing gear. However, upon initial contact with the runway, the aircraft's propellers struck the surface because the landing gear remained retracted. The aircraft subsequently veered to the right side of the runway and came to a stop on the adjacent dirt strip. Both crew members were uninjured in the incident.
