What happened
On December 14, 2024, at 12:20 local time, a BELLANCA 8KCAB, registration EC-NSJ, was performing an aerobatic maneuver over the runway at the La Axarquía – Leoni Benabú aerodrome in Vélez-Málaga, Spain. During the execution of a loop, the aircraft lost altitude relative to the ground. Before the maneuver could be completed, the aircraft impacted the ground and slid several meters along the surface. The aircraft then crossed the dry bed of the Benamargosa River, which runs alongside the aerodrome, and finally came to a rest after striking vegetation on the opposite side of the riverbed.
The impact resulted in the destruction of the aircraft and the death of the pilot.
