Incident

On 5 October 2019 at 12:30 UTC, a Yakovlev YAK-55 aircraft, registration LY-WAA, executed a landing at Banesti Airfield in Prahova County, Romania, without extending its landing gear. The aircraft contacted the runway with its belly, resulting in a gear-up landing. The pilot, the sole occupant, was not injured.

Investigation

The Civil Aviation Safety Investigation and Analysis Authority of Romania (Autoritatea de Investigații și Analiză pentru Siguranța Aviației Civile, AIAS) initiated a safety investigation into the occurrence. As the state of registry of the aircraft, the Republic of Lithuania appointed an accredited representative to participate in the investigation. The AIAS received notification of the event on 7 October 2019, and the accredited representative was appointed on the same day.
