What happened
On 19 July 2020, at approximately 18 UTC, an SZD-9 bis 1E Boclar glider, registration LY-GPX, was involved in an aircraft accident near the Kupiškis aeroclub in Rudikai village, Kupiškis district. Shortly after departing from the airfield, the pilot encountered changing weather conditions that resulted in insufficient altitude to continue the flight as planned.
Due to the lack of height and the deteriorating environment, the pilot was forced to perform an emergency landing near the airstrip. The impact caused the glider to suffer a broken left wing. There were no injuries reported for the pilot following the occurrence.
