What happened
On May 25, 2025, at approximately 19:00 local time, a Cessna F182Q aircraft bearing the registration LY-TBT experienced a critical mechanical failure during departure from Šeduva aerodrome (EYSE). The aircraft was conducting a recreational flight with one pilot and three passengers on board.
As the aircraft rotated for takeoff, the left wheel of the main landing gear detached completely. Despite the loss of structural support on that side, the pilot maintained control of the aircraft and continued the climb-out. Rather than attempting an emergency return to Šeduva, the pilot diverted to a nearby alternative airfield.
Approximately two hours after the initial incident, the aircraft successfully landed at Barysiai aerodrome (EYSB). The landing was executed without further complications. All four individuals on board—the pilot and three passengers—remained uninjured throughout the event.
