What happened

On 10 February 2021, a privately registered Blackshape Prime BS100 was performing circuit training at Ottawa/Carp airport (CYRP). Following a touch-and-go maneuver on runway 28, the aircraft began its climb but initiated a left turn before it had even cleared the runway threshold. Shortly after, approximately 240 m south of the runway, the aircraft entered a near-vertical descent and struck a wooded area. The impact was followed by a fire that destroyed the aircraft. The pilot, who was the only person on board, sustained fatal injuries.
