What happened
On 21 September 2025, a privately owned Robinson R44 helicopter departed from a private property near Sainte-Marie, Quebec, bound for Magog, Quebec. During the flight, the aircraft was seen flying in a nose-down orientation toward the crest of a wooded hill in the vicinity of Saint-Séverin, Quebec.
The helicopter made contact with the treetops and crashed. The impact was followed by a fire that completely destroyed the aircraft.
The investigation
The TSB is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigation focused on the flight path and the impact with the terrain.
Findings
- The pilot, the only person on board, sustained fatal injuries.
- The aircraft struck trees at the top of a forested hill.
