What happened
On 24 September 2022, a Quad City Challenger II advanced ultralight aircraft was performing a flight from a private runway located near Yarker, Ontario, toward the Westport/Rideau Lakes aerodrome. During the mission, the aircraft experienced a loss of engine power, which led to an uncontrolled descent. The aircraft subsequently struck terrain within a wooded area.
The investigation
The TSB conducted a Class 4 investigation into the event. The investigation focused on the circumstances surrounding the flight and the sequence of events leading to the impact. The investigation established that the pilot was the only person on board the aircraft at the time of the accident and that the impact resulted in one fatality.
